Why Wildon Court? Who Needs Us?

So who are we and what are we aiming to do? We often say that we are two peas from the same pod. One of us has spent years building the soul and spirit of communities. The other has quite literally spent years hammer-and-nail building communities. We both believe that a strong community lies in the linkage of the two.

Bridget Riemer:

Bridget is a seasoned nonprofit professional who sharpened her teeth and honed her skills across 20+ years of working in the nonprofit community. She earned her BS in Psychology from the University of Ottawa and then returned to the greater DC/MD/VA area, where she went on to create and direct a feral cat support program for a leading humane organization, provide eligibility support to individuals with developmental disabilities through the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) of Maryland, and spent five years as a counselor and Intensive Outpatient program director for the second oldest medication assisted substance use disorder treatment program in the Nation; while concurrently achieving her Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner (CPRP) credential.

Joe Riemer:

Joe is a native to Baltimore and brings to Wildon Court a lifelong expertise of systems, instrumentation, facilities management, and home improvement talents. Joe has achieved his instrumentation and controls certification from Rhetts Institute, has held a Maryland Home Improvement Commission (MHIC) licence for 15+ years, has run a successful contracting company, and has worked for the University of Maryland as a facilities management specialist. And, let's be clear, home improvement work involves a lot of people skills. Going through a home remodel is one of the top stressors a person or family can undergo, which means that he has developed his own skills at working graciously with people when they are their most strained and he is well versed in providing empathic support. Additionally, Joe is currently enrolled in adult education classes to further expand his knowledge base and broaden his scope of expertise.

Mission It's one thing to build and create strong programs and homes for others. It's entirely another project to start-up a program of our own. We are not interested in either. Instead, we are interested in using the resources and contacts that we already have at our disposal to grow, support, promote, and recognize programs around DC/MD/VA that might need a little push . . . or a little tug . . . or a showcase to say: "here we are!".

In the Fall of 2018 we were looking for properties to potentially use for the creation of a therapeutic farm. That is when we came across Wildon Court. From the first moments we saw the property it was home. Not "home" like is traditionally thought . . . but "HOME" . . . like, to our souls. The space. The grounds. The energy. It spoke to us, deeply. And we immediately felt an urge to share that feeling.

Vision

Our vision is to provide a space for programs and philanthropists to come together. To enjoy an afternoon or evening of: brainstorming, relaxation, serenity, casual contact, and easy networking; all in the hopes of connecting people to grow solid community programs and relationships. Wildon Court is the perfect setting for an employee recognition event, a working retreat, a board meeting, a midsized holiday party, a fundraiser, a group "prom", just to list a few ideas! And, yes, we are even open to hosting weddings or other, intimate celebrations.

We are excited for the opportunity to get to know our neighbors, big and small. Whether you are a one-man-band, a one-woman-army, or a growing coalition; your group size is far less important than your match to our core philosophies. Wildon Court is a place of peace, serenity, neighborhood, and compassion. These are the seeds we hope to plant and cultivate. All we need is you!
